First Meditation on Prayer: In Prayer We Worship the One Who is Worthy

In Prayer we worship a Holy God—the One and only true God (Mat 6:9; see Ps 96:5). We join with all the heavenly host in worshipping the One who is worthy and who is seated on his throne in heaven. We worship the Lamb who took away our sins and the sins of the whole world (Rev 5:9-14).

As redeemed children of God we feel that we cannot praise him enough for his infinite grace and love (Ps 113:3). Worshiping our Lord and Savior becomes our life’s vocation and our life’s joy. As we pray, we take the words of Jude and make them our own: “… to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen” (Jude 25).
