The Enactment Of Grace

Prayer is the enactment of grace. In prayer the soul is infused with refreshing mercy and grace, spurring us on towards fruitfulness through a Christ-honoring life. As we pray we connect with the divine and that vital connection renews us, experiencing joy and peace.  Through prayer our soul lays hold of the grace of the cross which empowers us unto childlike faith and obedience.

The apostle exhorts us to pray continually as a necessity. He gives us a command to be obeyed. Our souls need the touch of heaven. We cannot live by bread alone (Mat 4:4). In prayer we open our hearts to the words of the gospel which are full of the Spirit and life (John 6:63).

The Christian who is weak in prayer is vulnerable to any and every sin and failure. The fallen nature thrives on the virus of prayerlessness.

Satan exploits the believer for his own purposes, using one’s unrestrained carnality to injure and divide. Where prayer is absent grace is diminished and with the lessening of grace we are left with the letter that kills rather than the Spirit that gives life (2 Cor 3:6).     

            A prayerless life is a fruitless life—a self-centered life—a life that is devoid of the love of Christ. It is only in the communion of prayer that our hearts are renewed, being warmed by the comfort and compassion of the Savior.

Through prayer we experience the restoring of the image of God within us. In the communion with the Almighty we enter into the Holy Place, ever learning the privilege of dwelling in the atmosphere of his loving grace.
