Third Meditation on Prayer: In Prayer We Seek Forgiveness

In humble prayer we confess our sins and our failures, seeking forgiveness from the holy God we have offended (Ps 51:4). As we seek forgiveness we forgive those who have sinned against us (Mat 6:12). We forgive others as we remember the forgiveness we receive for our constant failings (Eph 4:32).

Prayer is clinging to the cross of Christ in humble repentance. It is in the place of confession that we find help for our infirmities and hope for the betterment our futures.  

We ask for grace to sin less, to forgive more quickly, and for a growing desire to please our Lord and Savior in everything (Col 3:13).

In faith we open our hearts to Calvary’s cleansing fountain and in that moment the blood of Jesus washes away every stain (Isa 1:18).

In prayer we find that the Lord is faithful and just and that he stands ready to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
